Totally optional cosmetic DLC in a game is not something I particularly give a **** about, and certainty don't feel taken advantage of, especially when Creative Assembly actually offer gameplay DLC, like additional factions, for free. Maybe people act like there isn't anything wrong because they don't think anything's wrong.? I sure don't. Just be warned, as always, there's vulgarity galore. If you want to watch his video on this, you can. Why CHARGE for the extra violence? It's just ridiculous.īy the way, credit once again goes to AlphaOmegaSin for bringing this to my attention. Plenty of games have done this and avoided an M-rating because of it. You can just add in a blood and gore filter and set the default to "off". Alright, fair enough, you don't want it to be blocked off from the younger-than-18 crowd. Now, their reasoning for having it removed is actually respectable: they wanted to have the game get a T-rating. At times, it seems like they've gotten their junk straightened out and are back to being the company they used to be, but then, out of nowhere, something like this happens and BAM, nevermind, they're back to being scumbags. Man, I really don't know what to think about this company anymore. THIS IS! This is actual content removal for the sake of extra cash! You can't do that, Sega!! It's still bull****, but they're not actually removing content. People often mistakenly think that's what weapon and map packs are in other AAA games (typically from EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and Capcom), but that's always content that's created after the main game is finished. Are you serious, Sega? Really? In what world do you live in where you think this is an okay thing to do? I'm aware that this doesn't make an impact on the gameplay, or anything, but this is such a simple feature, something that's designed purely for immersion/realism, and you're taking it out just so you can make a little extra money? WHY? This isn't adding anything to the game, it's taking something that's supposed to be in the final product out and charging us for it! Literally, that's what it is this time. Previously I thought there would never be a more asinine DLC than Metro: Last Light's Ranger Mode, a difficulty setting with the description of "the way was meant to be played." Charging $5 for a difficulty setting on day one is stupid enough, but if you're gonna tell us it's the way it was meant to be played, then why make it separate? It can't get any more ridiculous than that, right? WRONG! Old pal Sega is charging us $3 a pop for, are ya ready for it(?) - blood and gore! Yes, the "violent" features that have ALWAYS been included in games like this is now being charged SEPARATELY from the main game. You know how in the past I've talked about DLC being abused by developers lately? How it's been contorted and perverted from being a healthy means of expanding our games' lifespan's through quest extension packs into a quick cash-grabbing technique through content such as day one weapons and gameplay features that should have been included in the final product? Well, guess what, IT'S BACK! And this time it's dumber than ever.
